Florida AI Policy Summit

The inaugural Florida AI Policy Summit, hosted by the Jack D. Gordon Institute for Public Policy at Florida International University, is a pioneering event dedicated to advancing the understanding and application of artificial intelligence in various domains. Set against the vibrant backdrop of Miami, Florida, this summit took place on January 19th, 2024.

Cybersecurity Leadership and Strategy for Executive and Managerial Public Sector Employees

In response to the Local Government Cybersecurity Act, Section 282.3185 of the Florida Statute, the Jack D. Gordon Institute for Public Policy has developed the Cybersecurity Leadership and Strategy Program for Executive and Managerial Public Sector Leadership and Employees. The goal is to ensure that every state and local government employee receives compliant cybersecurity training.

Cyber Policy Advisory Board

To provide strategic guidance and expertise, FIU's Jack D. Gordon Institute for Public Policy has established the Cyber Policy Advisory Board. Comprised of influential members from leading technology companies, the advisory board will support FIU's mission of promoting cybersecurity education, research, and public policy development. As part of its commitment to diversity in the cybersecurity workforce, the board will play a vital role in advancing FIU's initiatives.

NICE Conference

The 2024 NICE Conference and Expo will take place on June 3-5 in Dallas, Texas. The conference will offer a half-day of targeted workshops followed by two full days of insights from experienced thought leaders from education, government, industry, and non-profits who are addressing cybersecurity’s education, training, and workforce needs.

RICET Conference

RICET, or the Regional Initiative for Cybersecurity Education and Training, is a collaborative effort to build and strengthen a foundation in cybersecurity education, training, and workforce for the Americas. This event is hosted by Florida International University and the Organization of American States in cooperation with the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education. The inaugural RICET Conference will take place in person on Thursday, October 19th from 1 – 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

NICE Symposium

The NICE Symposium: A Coordinated Approach to Supply Chain Threats, a half-day symposium that served as a precursor to the 2022 NICE Conference, was held on November 16, 2022. Due to dramatic events and emerging threats at the time, experts discussed the role of the cybersecurity workforce and the need for a coordinated response to strengthen the supply chain.
